Last night our guest speaker challenged us with three things:
1) Don't take no for an answer
2) Be willing to be uncomfortable
3) Serve
I totally agree that in order to reach our friends these are the ingredients to success. The example he gave was the four friends who carried their paralyzed friend to Jesus. They were willing to do whatever it took to get their friend to Jesus. No matter what the cost, no matter what anyone said, they would do it.
I have a question for you though that might shake you up a little bit today. Which person are you in this story? Are you one of the four friends who is willing to do anything to get their friend to Christ, or are you the one who needs the friends to bring them to Jesus? Are you the sold out friend that knows and has faith that Jesus is going to do something incredible in the life of your friend, or are you the person who is hurting and needs to have that encounter with Christ? It's easy to want to see ourselves as the sold out crazy friends, but all too often if we really admitted it, we're more like the paralyzed man than we care to admit. To afraid to act on our own, too timid to step out, unable to reach those around us, unwilling to take a step of faith.
Place yourself in this story and truly self-evaluate who you are today. It could make all the difference in the world to you and your friends.
