Power Outage

Sometimes I like to think back to what life must have been like back when they didn't have electricity. No dish washers, ovens like we know them, no washer & dryer. You name it they didn't have it at their disposal. When night came you lit a candle or went to bed, just that simple. They probably never even thought twice about their inability to do certain things, because they had never experienced what electrical power was like.

I think for us as Christians it's the same thing. Many of us live our lives without a desperate need for the Holy Spirit because frankly, we have never experienced the power that only he can give. We don't miss what we've never had. We've never had to be in a situation where we needed God's power to do something in our lives. Just like people back in the day who never had power, we really don't know what we're missing at all.

I want to encourage you today to begin to pray specifically for the Holy Spirit to give you power to do something incredible for God. Then also pray that God would put you in a situation where you need his power to come through. It's time we stop living in the denial of what the Holy Spirit can do out of comfort, and start living in the reality that God has called us to so much more in this life.

Here's your question of the day: If you could have the power to do something miraculous for someone in your life, what would that miracle be? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Last summer I was at camp and I met a boy who was about 12 years old and he told me that he has lost both of his parents within a year. He was was a really mature kid who kinda looked up to me and I often think about him because he acted and talked like an adult sometimes as if he has life all figured out.

I don't know if he knew Christ or not but a cool miracle would be if Jesus came to him in a dream or something and just reassured him about life considering everything he has been through.
